It's gonna ruffle some feathers but thats the point, and bottom line, China can't afford a long term tariff war. Neither can we, but they'll suffer from it more. Not saying we can ignore it like the democrats believe but in the comparison of our dept to Sweden’s, military might (and size of the countries which contributes to the former) are the obvious differences and reason for said debt. Granted, China effects the global economy almost as much as we do and if they ever upgrade to a consumer based modern economy instead of a socialist market economy, they will surpass us (ain’t gonna happen) but Europe doesn’t exactly want to be left with China as their economic lead, which is why they were so salty over the tariff war in the first place. Well again, you can do a lot when you don't have to pay for your defense. The US not only bankrolls a lot of the world's defense, we also bankroll scientific and medical advancement for everybody. Not saying it's not a good deal for our own people, too, but I don't think it's going to last forever. The Middle East and Afghanistan show clearly that our military can't handle even a median crisis. Which isn't a bad thing in my book.
