I really liked the first Haunted Mask one. Really creepy premise and the descriptions of how it felt to wear the mask and try to remove it were great.

Stay Out of the Basement was one of the scariest books as well as being one of the best episodes.

I forgot about the monster mask you’re right, that was so gross and scary

Starfield launches September 6, 2023

September is the 9th month. 9 just an upside down 6.

6 is 6.

2030… 2 X 0 = 0 … 2 X 3 =6

6/6/6

My gosh. Bethesda confirmed as basically the Illuminati with a fetish for repeating digits in their release dates.

I swear they're doing this shit just to sell copies of the originals.

Kickass Last of Us episode this week. Last week's was a dud.

  Reveal hidden contents

Last week was Ellie backstory, which ended up being 3/4ths a teenage mall romp just so they could show a lesbian kiss. Then a very disappointing fight with a weak clicker that infects both Ellie and her squeeze Riley.

This week we see a religious cult, which yeah I was prepared to roll my eyes, and in the end you find out they also resorted to cannibalism (zombie apocalypse box checked) and the gospel-spouting leader turns out to be rapey. But somehow the execution was still good so I didn't eyeroll too much. Ellie is so badass, mixed with that little girl vulnerability that makes her a compelling character.

Celan you need to be a professional critic, I’d read it every time. Entertaining.

Wake me when there is a full EU Star Wars conversion overhaul and I might be all over it.

Though I might not get it; for once 2023 seems to be a pretty busy gaming year.

Diablo 4 especially excites me, looks like the best thing Blizzard's done in a decade

Ah shit man, hope you get better.

My dad's had diabetes for awhile (it's the lesser form thankfully, but still bad), not saying to worry cause it's worst case, but if the pharmaceuticals go for your head with the extreme price of you know what, you can always come here!

You know, I had a thought today. I think Chris Avellone is to Fallout what Michael Kirkbride is to TES.

Both are responsible for some of the most significant and impressive elements of their respective series lore, but they also both tend to go off the deep end with their wilder ideas and need to be kept in check by more grounded writers.

They both wrote a bunch of out-of-game lore that is treated as semi-canon by lots of fans but often gets contradicted by Bethesda.

They both are somewhat controversial in real life and no longer work for the companies they developed the series with.

Holy shit; game's phenomenal. Alot of changes (like instead of stumbling on there impale corpses, you get to watch the villagers burn your police escorts alive and a much expanded horrorish intro), but they didn't remove anything.

Combat is fucking smooth as fuck. They added a completely optional stealth system (which is more for ambushing enemeis instead of avoiding them), ability to parry melee attacks,  and you can combo in shots, roundhouse kicks, and a finish knife to throat. All of Leons animations are really fluid (he naturally goes for his pistol if you aim after a knife strike)

I think it speaks to the reverence people have for Tolkien and his works that there is so much pushback to any sort of additions made to them that isn’t very clearly and deliberately respectful.

Compare it to the Star Wars fandom, which will largely flip shit any time a new show or game gets announced pretty much no matter who is making it or what the subject matter is (except in the case of Andor, apparently :().

But any time a corporation even sneezes in the direction of LotR, Tolkien fans immediately and collectively tell them to piss off. Kinda wish it was more common, to be honest. XD

Better than making Shelob a milf. XD

No matter how dumb that was; at least you can sortofish justify if you read the text a certain way (Tolkien was unsure if Ungoliant was a primeval being of darkness or a fallen Maia, who could transform there forms, if so making Shelob half)

The real lore breaking aspect was making her an anti-hero who attacked Frodo and Sam to "baptize them" (whatever the fuck that meansXD) and speeden there process to Mount Doom

As if there is any remotely reasonable way to assume that someone getting webbed up and captured by orcs is somehow going to be faster than just… walking through the cave unhindered.

But let’s be honest, it was all lore breaking. Not just the motivations. Neither Tolkien nor Peter Jackson wrote Shelob to be some kind of shapeshifting seductress, or ever even had that thought in their minds. She’s literally never described or shown as anything more than a demonic man-eating creature who Sauron treats like a pet.

"she served none but herself, drinking the blood of Elves and Men, bloated and grown fat with endless brooding on her feasts, weaving webs of shadow; for all living things were her food, and her vomit darkness"

Yeah, a real 20 Charisma build right there… XD
