Roleplayer's Off Topic Thread #1

I don't get that. I mean, the neocons were definitely a cabal which is why I said he surrounded himself with yes men. Neoconservatism is a largely academic movement and rooted in the left, not the right. All Obama did was act out academic leftism- socialist domestic policies, the Iranian deal and reflexive anti-Israel sentiment, internationalism, and a lot of the actual policy making he left to others. Both were internationalists. It's only different in emphasis.

I think Bush is responsible for Iraq because he felt his father had only half finished the job and he decided to use the presumed goodwill after 9/11 to go back and mop up. (if only)

Anyway, we can take this to PM to get the thread off politics. Good discussion though. :)

Indeed it was all in all today. We can pick it up on the pm or this weekend. Only thing I really have to say though is I think that father’s unfinished business stuff was just more rhetoric, same as the whole terrorism and 9/11 line since Iraq had nothing to do with that.

Beyond that I’d say that’s enough politics for one day lol. Glad we can finally have discussions like this without worrying about salty sallies in red getting in a huffy about it. Far cry from the Bethesda forum days

I actually had mixed feelings towards DCdeacon. I felt bad because he had to deal with a cancerous fandom like Beth. So I can understand why he became so bitter and dickish...

Who?

I don’t think Beth’s fan base is cancerous. Not even remotely so compared to lots of others. Annoying, sure, but that’s pretty standard.

It was Pete's username XD. I remember me and Colonel would argue alot (against the Skyrim haters) in "SKYRIM FUCKING SUCKS, WHY CAN'T THIS GAME BE LIKE FUCKING MORROWIND WAGHHHH!" threads.

That’s true, but I was mainly arguing against the guys saying that Skyrim sucked ass and needed to be more like fallout new Vegas.

Now Obviously I love fall out new Vegas, but even as fantastic as it was, I easily played Skyrim a lot more and it obviously greatly inspired us here too regardless of its flaws.

Course I do want a more mature story and open quest design, and would love it if Skyrim has this since that was so lacking it was downright jarring and insulting sometimes but overall Skyrim accomplishes what it set out to do.

It certainly doesn’t suck ass. But then, I also cannot play it without mods anymore, whereas I could play vanilla NV

Damn. I remembered GStaff but totally forgot that Pete wasn’t just Pete. Sorry, but even if putting up with a lot of crap did make him bitter and dickish, that just means he’s not a very good PR person. Listening to criticism is part of the job.

Indeed, dude’s just a salt lick.

Lmao my family is talking about how they are gonna come visit me on holidays and shit, like no motherfuckers, Hawaii will be great and all, but I still want to come home occasionally XD

You say that now, but wait to you see the local trim....

If I were in the military and I got sent to somewhere with nothing but... I dunno, let’s say redheaded white women for instance, I’d be sending you bitches a postcard.

Lmao, I’m spoken for at the moment Colonel. Otherwise I’d be on the top of my game.

I love Skyrim, but it’d be awesome if TES took the right sorts of cues from FNV. Not everything, of course. TES shouldn’t become Fallout anymore than Fallout should become TES (though imo it already has in some annoying ways). But better characters, quest design, and gameplay balancing would all be welcome.

Granted I’m biased. I’ve probably played FNV more than any two other games combined.

Agreed.

And it’s not like you gotta sacrifice breathtaking landscapes and fun level designs and so on for that.

The exploration and role play is what kept me playing more than FNV. I loved the couriers story but it was exactly that, the courier’s story.

Was the opposite for me. Mostly because all of my characters in Skyrim ended up more or less the same once I took them far enough. Dragonborn masters of all. With NV, they were all the Courier, but one of my Couriers would be totally different from the next. The cowboy, the smooth talker, the science nerd, the explosive-loving NCR patriot, etc. That’s why I played it so many times. I kept finding new ways that the game acknowledged those differences.

Not dissing on Skyrim, of course. like you said, it’s impossible to pretend that it hasn’t had a legitimate major impact on my life. It’s how I ended up spending so many good years on here with you guys. :)

Bodolf was pretty much Witchie with a hardon for taking Imperial Nord souls rather than elves. He took theirs too but it was the Imperial Nords he favored.

Even made him an ice magic battlemage once. Invaded Whiterun on a frost dragon in stalhrim, with a stalhrim greatsword using the ice magic cloak, with two frost atronachs, then Kaarstag once we got in the city.

You could say he gave the empire... the cold shoulder.

Fair enough.

There will almost certainly never be another game set in Tamriel where we will have the ability to literally tear Imperial souls out of them by screaming words into their faces. How can anyone be expected to not take advantage of that opportunity?
