Stringent gun control certainly can work in most cases (probably not America), and any government can become oppressive. That’s why lots of Americans are so against it. We don’t like the idea of it working because that can be very bad. Maybe I won’t see an oppressive regime in my lifetime. I certainly hope not, and I don’t think that’s the direction we’re headed in. After Ferguson it started clicking in to people that the police force isn’t just a small arms group of defenders and enforcers, they’re an arm of the state, and serve the powers of the state first and foremost. Hell, a lot of these guys are better armed than Centurion and his boys. They look like the SS in Fallout after getting gun nut level 4.
