  1. The demand is so high, though. How much money would it take to override that insecurity? RPGs might be at their peak popularity right now, and Fallout is too (unfortunately ). They’ve got a golden opportunity if they can get a game out in the next couple of years. New Vegas was made in only two.
  2. There’s that, and there’s also the fact that they’ve seemingly realized the potential of cross-medium brands with Fallout’s success. The TV show caused player counts to skyrocket for all 3D Fallout games across the board. Microsoft probably realized that if they can time game launches and season releases close together, they can get some huge boosts.
  3. It looks like the goal is reprioritization of teams and assets towards making more TES and Fallout. yay At least Obsidian was spared.
  4. So basically another game that will be rendered unplayable in several years. Should be illegal.
  5. I’d assume that much of that pushback came from the Prey devs who quit. That’s the part which I do consider a shame, though they were good enough that I can see them finding places elsewhere.
  6. I don’t just want immersive sims. I want good immersive sims. Though I’m not celebrating their closure; I’m mostly indifferent.
  7. Huh. Well then it sounds like the real loss happened years ago, then.
  8. Well that’s good, I guess. But if the Redfall people are still around then my hopes won’t be high.
  9. For all their faults, I’ve heard that Bethesda usually are pretty good to their employees by dev standards. I imagine that means things are pretty bad. Or it’s just a reflection of the whole AAA industry right now, which is basically just a less cringey and rapey reflection of Hollywood these days, and the tech center. Extremely bloated.
  10. Shame. Also a shame that Arkane’s last work would be Redfall. Talk about going out with a whimper. And Tango had the potential to be Xbox’s big horror studio if they’d kept it up with Evil Within instead of completely shifting gears. Ah well. I’m guess that the $7 billion Microsoft paid for Zenimax properties hasn’t even come close to paying for itself. They’ve shelved a good number of the studios they acquired with little return, and Bethesda has been moving at a snail’s pace on top of their last game being a profit dud.
  11. I also want new BOW strains. Just hope we’re done with the mold and "mythical" creatures.
  12. Tyrants are the classic BOW. Of course I want to see those guys!
  13. Call me old-fashioned, but I’d really like a return of good ol’ classic zombies and BOWs.
  14. Heck yeah! Been saying for over a year now that a jungle would be my first pick for the next RE setting. Granted, I was thinking South America with Carlos making a return, but I’ll take Asia!
  15. Even Simon in S0MA was kind of a selfish dick. But yeah, the first two were straight up villains. And I honestly can’t even remember what the Rebirth lady’s deal was, nor do I care enough to include her.
  16. Indeed. But it was expected to be an easy and relatively safe patrol, so I can totally see Henri thinking little of it at the time. He might still be the most noble Frictional protagonist so far, considering that his big crime was basically just a prank, and even then the guilt was so immense that he put his own life at great risk in order to make it right. He’s a fairly blank character besides having been a bit of a fun trickster with a good conscience and sense of loyalty, but I liked him for what he was.
  17. Yes, I caught that. As soon as the diaries mentioned how his wounds from the battlefield were healing rapidly, and how he ended up carrying Henri all the way back despite bleeding profusely, I knew where it was going. In trying to do the right thing and save his friend, Henri accidentally doomed them all.
  18. I finished The Bunker last weekend before concluding my 10,000th replay of New Vegas. It was great from beginning to end. I am so glad to see Frictional returning to form and making good stuff. If they can churn out one or two more of this quality in a row, Afterbirth will be a distant memory.
  19. I’d wager that those two are by far the best-known characters besides maybe Margit.
