”The Empire didn’t like that the Stormcloaks won so they conspired with the Psjic Monks to explode the eye of magnus over Windhelm. Skyrim and all its people no longer exist, all that’s left is a partly snowy wasteland with very little evidence it was ever actually populated”
To be fair tho, this would be a very big leap in tes since even red mountain didn’t totally fuck the dunmer, whereas in fallout it literally starts with a nuclear war lol.

However, I do think you were at least meant to feel something when Lucy looks at the NCR flag, hence Inon Zur music.
I do think that I'm not as upset about the developments because I have zero emotional connection to the NCR to begin with.
this except apply it to the whole series for me
I do love new Vegas as a whole tho and don’t wanna see it disrespected

Me n doc talked on the phone about it… I understand better now. Especially with the revelation of the end of the season… oh boy
Ima watch but I’m scared for season 2 and what that will do to the setting and new vegas

I keep forgetting I gotta reenable my prime video shit on my pc if y’all are wondering why I don’t just watch it now lol. Can’t reactivate it on my phone and I’m at work

I also feel like if Celan didn’t rage, I probably won’t either lol, we disagree about many things but usually if she’s pissed, I’m pissed lol

I don’t think so. Not if it’s done well. Game of Thrones was the most popular show of all time in its heyday, and it had similar complexity to it. People love that shit when it’s done well.
But again, I don’t expect them to make the next New Vegas. I don’t expect them to tell a complex or even well-written story. My bar is waaaaay lower than that, and I could still like the show.
Going back to Star Wars as an example. I love the Prequels even though their writing often sucks and they are very silly and tonally inconsistent with the OT. They were fun, and they added some silly stuff, but they didn’t destroy what came before. They added to it with some respect.
But I hate the Sequels, because they didn’t just add silly and dumb stuff, but actively destroyed and disrespected what came before.
I would’ve been plenty happy to get a "Prequels" equivalent for Fallout that’s just some dumb fun, but instead what I got was the "Sequels" where it just kills everything.
That’s literally what they do but the Fallout equivalent. The NCR is a far more significant element of this series than the Stormcloaks are to TES. Their development has basically been the main overarching story of the franchise in every game not made by Bethesda.
Sure but Nord lore in general is what I meant by it being a pinnacle to tes lore.
NCR I agree are a big deal but I didn’t think any of us were truly as invested in the future of the NCR, or Legion, or House as we were tes factions. I was wrong clearly.
New Vegas sure, as that is directly tied to our character and the whole story. Only reason I care about the BoS is Maxson in 4

Why don't you watch the show first, before you judge Doc's reaction
To go off this more, I’m ready for the very real possibility that seeing how these things were implemented in the show will set me off lol. It is one thing being told that something was disrespected vs actually seeing it.

Maybe. Hard to check that when we’ve only got one Fallout show to go off.
But I’m not so bothered by it being silly and simple minded (though I’d prefer it be a little smarter than it is). I can deal with that. My anger comes from how it spitefully tore down the works of better creators just like Disney did to Star Wars.
This I can understand
Tho in that example I cared less about that and more that the movie in general was ass.
lol naruto did this too with Boruto. If the show was actually good, I wouldn’t mind as much. But it’s not
at least this is supposedly an enjoyable show.
Im honestly surprised @Celanwasnt bothered by the mr house stuff

I’m aware. It’s why Fallout sucks now and why I’m pissed.
And they could absolutely make money off Fallout without destroying or disrespecting all the stuff they didn’t make. New Vegas is proof of that.
Could they make money off it, sure, and lol the lotr series shows simple isn’t always better.
However. I do think they’d lose most people with all the bear bull talk lmao of FNV. That said they don’t actually have to make it like fnv at all, coulda just simply not mentioned those details or keep them. Doubt it’d change the story at all.
As you said, my position is t honestly that it needed to be this way. It didn’t. It’s more that, they’ve been disrespecting the series for so long as is that I never expected the show to be any different. When you said it was bad, I thought you meant like, LOTR bad, like race changing, lgbt stuff etc.
This is honestly up there with a best case scenario imo, it being actually entertaining and good. I don’t think I’d honestly think different were I a bigger fan.
Take elder scrolls for instance. I think the only detail that would set me off from a tv show of tes would be Stormcloak related. Or shitting on Nord lore which is a central pillar of the lore imo

It’s fine. The fundamentals of his position don’t require that he’s seen the show.
Look how reasonable this guy is lol love it

I don’t feel I need to lol, can go off what y’all are saying

In all honesty, if we’re talking about a tv show, the silly simple minded fallout would translate better than the fallout we love from the games. People are stupid and it’s a tv show.

To be frank, I don’t give a damn about those fans, I care about the series. It matters to me.
Well to be frank you’re in a very small minority, one that they’re not making money off of. Of course they’re not gonna cater to that

That’s different. Resident Evil games don’t recognize the show’s continuity. The world ending in the third movie doesn’t affect anything that matters to me.
If the Fallout show was the same way, I wouldn’t mind it at all. It’d just be another mediocre video game show of many. But now, half the series (the good half) has basically been deleted.
It really doesn’t matter, most fans don’t keep up with it for the span of decades anyway

Fallout 1, 2, and NV related, yes. Especially NV and especially especially Lonesome Road.
I expected bad. I just did not expect it to be bad in a way that so thoroughly destroys everything.
Me neither. But I wouldn’t take some random tweet from Emil very seriously even if I did. I’m more concerned with what’s actually in the games/show.
1 and 2 aren’t theirs so that makes sense too even though it’s disrespectful to those that made the series originally. And if I were a fan since then I’m sure I’d care, maybe.
Idk hard to say because I love FNV and eh, I think it’s because my bar is and was very very low for the show, and all video game adaptations in general
You are a resident evil fan. Same as me. Enough said xD

Nate not withstanding, Idc about that lol

Well correct me if I am wrong but the things y’all dislike about it are mostly fallout new Vegas related right. If that’s the case it makes sense why they shat all over that, right or not. It’s very petty but expected.
If that’s not the case tell me what else they did.

I would care more if these games had me more emotionally invested in anything other than my character. Closest to that would be Maxson and most annoying thing I read is that he’s supposedly a synth lol.
Whatever, I’ll eyeroll and move on

Bethesda is saying it is
Meh I’m in the camp that doesn’t honestly care tbh. Unless they go to the Mojave again lol it’s whatever. And even then it was never gonna be a satisfying continuation to anyone.
It is probably a huge deal to someone like doc who keeps up with the lore of the much older games, so FNV isn’t old to those fans but it feels like forever to me.
Not that it changes anything but fir me it softens the blow.
Mr House goes from a major dick to a mega dick, like alright. There’s still mutants and stuff right. And vaults. Cool
-
Ima give it a shot soon
-
The shows for me are never a canon continuation anyway. I didn’t watch witcher thinking that. Just enjoy the show for what it is lol you’re never gonna get a direct perfect adaptation lol, as long as it nails the feel of the game and is fun to watch, honestly that’s a win. Besides, the show has to be different or else most wouldn’t be interested in what would basically be a live action lord video.
im exaggerating a bit but I’m also biased cause Penguinz loved it and he’s usually right about these sorts of things lol
-
I heard the new fallout show was actually good xD

Thats my point
Tes has big cataclysmic events sure, but usually theyre stopped by the, or a hero and nothing big changes really in the actual games, for the most part. Big stuff happens in the background and most fans dont read up much on all that. Eso notwithstanding, it doesnt happen in your face.
Fallout is not like that tho and right off the bat boom you have a nuclear war and winter to think about for the setting as a whole. So things getting nuked in fallout seems right compared to the extreme example given for tes and windhelm. Not that it couldnt happen, but unless its a far distant future in some obscure lore or in a place not relevant to the games in the past, stuff like that usually doesnt happen.
Biggest thing that happened that affected everyone was the oblivion crisis, then red mountain going off after baar dau fell, and the great war. None of these things erased a nation even though they came close. Tes just isnt that kind of setting whereas fallout right from the start wiped out most life on earth as we know it.
