I think people that are into history sometimes fall into the mistake of thinking Scandinavians are unwashed and smelly comes from a Muslim description talking about how filthy they saw the Viking traders up near Islamic spain.

But then again the high class Muslim Andalusians were obsessed more than the Vikings on cleanliness.

The Muslims actually had proper baths :D

Teeeeeeechnically if the Gauls were noted for using soap, is it any stretch to imagine the Scandinavians didn't? At least in this era.

Nah apparently Vikings we're super clean (for the time) and obsessed with looking good. If anything the English probably smelled worse.

Though they used the same water the others used to wash...so I guess they we're still smelly XD

??? No lmao. I’m at the motorpool not the main gates. Take everything you think the military is and erase that shit. Now picture the government spending over 75000 just to train you to be a warfighter and then spend your years sweeping rain and shit lmao. Take your silly little Metal Gear games and replace all those guys wondering around with rifles, to dude with brooms and trash grabbers.

Calm down, it was a poor joke :coffee:

And do you really think I take Metal Gear seriously when i'm using this as camouflage

? Patrol? LOL I’m sitting in a booth next to a gate and I occasional have some one pull up trying to leave the motor pool with a vehicle and make sure they have the necessary papers while my battle (the other person with me) is knocked the fuck out

I have heard good things from that, and I could tell from the trailers that it was going to be good. Or at least, I was more hopeful for that that than this. Even almost bought the game till Doc and Tijhan talked me out of it.

This didn’t have the same effect.

Honestly I got the game for twenty bucks, and I had a pretty fun time. There's no subscription too.

But maybe it's just because I have prior experiences playing MMO's. Meh.

Are they even still making money from that? I’m surprised this late in theyre still making expansions. That’s probably one of the reasons why it’s so bland, not enough money to justify going all out.

I have no idea how much money they’re still making just thinking aloud

After WOW it's one of the most popular MMO's out there :D Most people thought it wasn't going to last a year, and here we are. Two major expansions, and a bunch of smaller ones.

Almost everything we know about that land is vague as hell and consists mainly of beings whose whole purpose is to be alien and unknown to us. Their inclusion was only to benefit the world of Nirn from Tamriels viewpoint, not theirs.

But it's still a recognizable and iconic aspect of the franchise. When you see a set of Blades equipment or Sky Ruler temple you automatically think "That's Elder Scrolls!"

Because it’s about Tamriel. There would be no common narrative with Akavir. No callbacks or recognizable elements. We’d have no reason to be attatched to any of it and it might as well be a different series.

You want unique? Do Valenwood or Alinor. You want unique with animal people, do Black Marsh. You want Akaviri? Make them invade again. There is no need to just drop everything they’ve been building for over a decade.

That's nonsense. I'm attached to the world of Nirn, and since Morrowind we've been spoonfed stuff about the mysterious East. And it's always existed in the background of the setting, and parts of the games (armor designs, weapon designs enviromental designs, book lore) . Putting it to the forefront wouldn't be anything of the sort of what your suggesting.

Pretty fauna is fairly standard. I was referring to the cities and castles. They look the same as any medieval funtime land type setting.

Well do we have any lore from previous games about the Atlmer's skill in building, and what there infastructure is like? I would expect to see more outlandish stuff as we get deeper into the isles. Something like Lothern

On a tangential note I wonder if this means the Dominion will have griffin riders.

Honestly my favorite part about it XD Griffin's are finally canon.

I find it very bland for a hidden magical elven realm. Touissant @ Witcher 3 had more character and mysticism than that.

We...saw it for a single minute. I don't think it's fair to judge it in a single teaser trailer.

    I loved the fauna.

Wasn’t aware they were in any kind of danger.

Some Mobile trash company was trying to do a hostile takeover. For like...two and a half years. Apparently AC Origins gave them a huge sum of cash, and a bunch of Canadian companies saved there asses, so much Videni (the ones trying to take them over) just gave up.
