The most annoying mobs in that game, for me, were the prison wardens who drained your health by looking at you. And basilisks. Always basilisks. Originally the Vileblood Queen had the same voice actress as Maria, brought more connections to the two of them, and I prefer her old voice. I always assumed they were the last remnants of the Pthumerians, and their descendants. Very tall, mostly blonde, with almost otherworldly beauty. That's a trope in Lovecraftian fiction, long lost remnants of ancient non-human civilisation existing in the blood of "humans" threw cross breeding.
